About the Work
TSUKIOKA YOSHITOSHI — FUJIWARA NO YASUMASA PLAYS THE FLUTE BY MOONLIGHT
Presented as a later facsimile after Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, *Fujiwara no Yasumasa Plays the Flute by Moonlight* retains the visual structure of the recognised composition. Mount Fuji rises as the dominant geometric form, its broad slopes set against patterned sky and low foreground elements that reinforce the mountain’s monumental simplicity. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its balance of flattened space, decisive contour and carefully controlled detail gives the sheet a strong graphic quality suited to contemporary interiors.
