About the Work
SORAYAMA X MEDICOM TOY — BE@RBRICK SORAYAMA 400%
A metallic silver BE@RBRICK figure is treated with a mirror-like surface that recalls Hajime Sorayama’s chrome robots. The simplified bear anatomy becomes futuristic through the reflective finish, while dark details around the eyes and mouth introduce a machine-like facial character. Rather than applying a printed pattern, the collaboration relies on material effect and light, allowing the environment to be reflected across the object’s curved surfaces. This approach connects Medicom Toy’s standardised collectible form with Sorayama’s long-standing fascination with polished metal, robotics and idealised technological bodies, producing a concise fusion of artist style and industrial toy design.
