About the Work
KAWS — SMALL LIE (BROWN)
The brown SMALL LIE figure stands with head lowered, arms hanging heavily at its sides and oversized gloved hands turned inward. KAWS’s crossed-out eyes are partly concealed by the bowed posture, giving the character a subdued and introspective mood. The muted brown palette emphasises the rounded construction of the body and the contrast between cartoon familiarity and emotional weight. As a sculptural multiple, the work reflects KAWS’s sustained transformation of animation-derived forms into objects intended for both art and collectible contexts. Its quiet stance is notably different from the more overtly playful poses common in designer-toy culture.
