About the Work
LEE UFAN — FROM LINE – EDITION PRINT
A sequence of dark blue vertical strokes descends from the upper edge across a pale ground, each mark tapering and fading toward the bottom. The repeated gesture creates a measured rhythm while subtle irregularities prevent mechanical uniformity. Lee Ufan’s From Line works are built around the relationship between repeated action, duration and empty space, and this edition reflects that economy. The untouched lower areas are as important as the pigment itself, allowing each stroke to register as an individual event. The result is quiet and highly controlled, using minimal means to foreground movement, interval and the passage of the artist’s gesture.
