About the Work
KIM TSCHANG-YEUL — WATER DROPS – PRINT
Dozens of golden droplet forms are arranged in a disciplined grid across a warm ochre ground. Each raised-looking element catches light differently, producing small highlights and shadows that give the otherwise regular composition a tactile quality. Kim Tschang-Yeul’s water-drop motif is one of the most recognisable elements of his practice, repeatedly exploring illusion, surface and the boundary between painted image and physical presence. In this edition, the droplets’ metallic appearance and serial organisation shift the motif toward relief and pattern. The work remains restrained, yet the accumulation of near-identical forms creates strong optical and material interest.
