About the Work
HAJIME SORAYAMA — SEXY ROBOT FLOATING
A chrome-finished female robot stands upright on a dark geometric base, her body rendered with the highly polished, anatomical precision associated with Sorayama’s robotic figures. The reflective silver surface accentuates articulated joints, torso contours and the smooth transition between human and machine. The pose is frontal and poised, giving the figure the presence of a futuristic mannequin or idealised mechanical body. Sorayama’s work repeatedly explores the seduction of technology and perfected surfaces; here those themes are condensed into a sculptural collectible whose mirror-like finish makes surrounding light part of the visual effect.
