About the Work
ITŌ JAKUCHŪ — ROOSTER AND HEN
This decorative print interprets Itō Jakuchū’s *Rooster and Hen* through a clean, display-oriented presentation. A rooster and hen are presented with sharply observed plumage and contrasting silhouettes, turning a familiar animal subject into a highly decorative study of texture and posture. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its balance of flattened space, decisive contour and carefully controlled detail gives the sheet a strong graphic quality suited to contemporary interiors.
