About the Work
OHARA KOSON — KINGFISHER AND LOTUS
The sheet reproduces the subject of Ohara Koson’s *Kingfisher and Lotus* in a format intended for decorative display. Lotus stems, leaves and blossoms organise the sheet through alternating areas of dense ink and open paper, with the floral forms providing both rhythm and a strong vertical accent. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its balance of flattened space, decisive contour and carefully controlled detail gives the sheet a strong graphic quality suited to contemporary interiors.
