About the Work
LIU YE — BOOK PAINTING – PRINT
An open book is presented frontally within a shallow frame, its two-page spread dominated by saturated red. Narrow blue and neutral strips at the left suggest the physical structure of the bound volume, while the central pages remain largely free of text or image. The work reduces the familiar cultural object of the book to colour, geometry and material presence. Liu Ye has repeatedly drawn on books, modernist design and the language of illustration; here the motif becomes almost abstract. The intense red field gives the quiet object unexpected visual authority, balancing intimate scale with a strong, iconic frontal composition.
