About the Work

OHARA KOSON — TWO CARP

This decorative print interprets Ohara Koson’s *Two Carp* through a clean, display-oriented presentation. The composition centres on fish in motion, their curved bodies and patterned scales set against sweeping water forms that create a pronounced sense of movement. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The image reflects the Japanese print tradition’s ability to combine narrative clarity with disciplined pattern, contour and negative space.
