About the Work
KAWS X MEDICOM TOY — COMPANION 100% COLLECTIBLE
The Companion figure is split visually between a dark outer body and a brightly coloured anatomical section revealing internal structures. One half retains KAWS’s familiar smooth cartoon surface and crossed-out eye, while the exposed side introduces green, pink, red and blue organs or musculature. This inside/outside contrast is central to the object’s impact, turning a known character into a quasi-anatomical model without abandoning its collectible form. The work brings together pop character design, bodily dissection and polished product manufacture, demonstrating KAWS’s interest in reworking familiar visual archetypes through controlled variations of pose, colour and internal structure.
