About the Work
SUZUKI HARUNOBU — LOVERS WALKING IN THE SNOW
The sheet reproduces the subject of Suzuki Harunobu’s *Lovers Walking in the Snow* in a format intended for decorative display. Two figures move closely together beneath winter weather, their overlapping garments and shared umbrella creating an intimate focal point within the otherwise quiet setting. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The image reflects the Japanese print tradition’s ability to combine narrative clarity with disciplined pattern, contour and negative space.
