About the Work
YAYOI KUSAMA — PUMPKIN (YELLOW / BLACK)
The composition centres on Kusama’s familiar pumpkin form, its rounded yellow body covered with dense black polka dots that expand and contract across the segmented surface. A short, curling stem gives the object a compact sculptural silhouette while the repeated spots create a strong optical rhythm. The work translates one of the artist’s most persistent motifs into an intimate three-dimensional collectible, linking the organic form of the pumpkin with the obsessive repetition that runs throughout her practice. The supplied image presents the piece against a neutral background, allowing the contrast between saturated yellow and black to dominate.
