About the Work
ITŌ JAKUCHŪ — WHITE PHOENIX
This decorative print interprets Itō Jakuchū’s *White Phoenix* through a clean, display-oriented presentation. The bird motif is set against restrained botanical elements, with the contrast between finely articulated plumage and open background giving the image a poised, decorative clarity. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The composition demonstrates the enduring visual appeal of Japanese print design, where atmosphere, pattern and concise storytelling operate together.
