About the Work
WU GUANZHONG — SPRING IN JIANGNAN
This later decorative edition revisits Wu Guanzhong’s *Spring in Jiangnan*. White-walled houses, dark tiled roofs, waterways and sparse trees are compressed into a graphic landscape built from black accents, pale washes and open areas of paper. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The interplay of calligraphic line, tonal wash and open paper gives the composition a lyrical quality while preserving a strong decorative presence.
