About the Work
REN BONIAN — BIRDS AND FLOWERS
The sheet reproduces the subject of Ren Bonian’s *Birds and Flowers* in a format intended for decorative display. The bird motif is set against restrained botanical elements, with the contrast between finely articulated plumage and open background giving the image a poised, decorative clarity. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its combination of expressive brush-like marks and carefully controlled emptiness translates effectively into a display-oriented decorative print.
