About the Work
KITAGAWA UTAMARO — TAKASHIMA OHISA
Presented as a later facsimile after Kitagawa Utamaro, *Takashima Ohisa* retains the visual structure of the recognised composition. A single female figure occupies the vertical format, with the face treated in delicate linear detail and the patterned clothing providing the principal decorative structure. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its balance of flattened space, decisive contour and carefully controlled detail gives the sheet a strong graphic quality suited to contemporary interiors.
