About the Work
QI BAISHI — INSECT ON A REED
Presented as a later facsimile after Qi Baishi, *Insect on a Reed* retains the visual structure of the recognised composition. Botanical stems extend through the vertical format in loose calligraphic lines, punctuated by fruit, leaves and a small insect motif that draws attention to close observation of nature. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its combination of expressive brush-like marks and carefully controlled emptiness translates effectively into a display-oriented decorative print.
