About the Work
UTAGAWA KUNIYOSHI — WARRIOR BENEATH A WATERFALL
This decorative print interprets Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s *Warrior beneath a Waterfall* through a clean, display-oriented presentation. A steep waterfall descends through a layered mountain setting, with dark ink masses, pale mist and sharply rising rock forms guiding the eye through the vertical composition. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its balance of flattened space, decisive contour and carefully controlled detail gives the sheet a strong graphic quality suited to contemporary interiors.
