About the Work
TETSUYA NAKAMURA — SPEED RACER – SCULPTURAL MULTIPLE
An elongated, low-profile sculptural form is finished in white with sweeping red flame-like graphics that run along its aerodynamic contours. The object suggests a futuristic vehicle or speed-derived design rather than a conventional figurative sculpture. Smooth transitions between body sections and a glossy surface reinforce the association with automotive customisation and racing culture. Nakamura’s practice is closely linked to highly engineered forms and the visual language of speed. This multiple condenses that fascination into a compact display object, using colour graphics to accentuate direction and movement across a form that appears poised to accelerate even when stationary.
