About the Work
UTAGAWA KUNIYOSHI — TAKIYASHA THE WITCH AND THE SKELETON SPECTRE
Based on the composition associated with Utagawa Kuniyoshi, *Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre* is presented here as a later printed edition. A dramatic triptych unfolds around an enormous skeletal apparition, whose sweeping bones dominate the scene and dwarf the human figures gathered below. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. Its balance of flattened space, decisive contour and carefully controlled detail gives the sheet a strong graphic quality suited to contemporary interiors.
