About the Work
JUNKO MIZUNO — PURE TRANCE – ART FIGURE
A blue-haired female character stands with a small companion figure held beside her shoulder. Her oversized eyes, pale face and stylised curls create a distinctly manga-influenced silhouette, while tiny skull-like motifs in the hair introduce a darker decorative note. The white-and-blue palette is punctuated by soft pink details, giving the piece a polished confectionary appearance. The sculpture belongs to the designer-toy tradition in which illustration is translated into a fully modelled character object. Its appeal rests on the tension between sweetness and macabre detail, a combination frequently encountered in contemporary Japanese-inspired collectible culture.
