About the Work
AYA TAKANO — THE JELLY CIVILIZATION CHRONICLE
The supplied image shows the cover of Aya Takano’s publication, dominated by two elongated female faces peering inward from opposite sides of a central illustrated panel. Muted grey, black and pink tones create a restrained outer design that contrasts with the fantastical drawing inside. Takano’s imagery often combines adolescent figures, speculative worlds and manga-derived line, and the publication format is particularly suited to the narrative dimension of her practice. As an artist book or printed multiple, the object occupies a space between edition, illustration and autonomous artwork, offering a concentrated entry into her imaginative visual universe.
