About the Work
TAKASHI MURAKAMI — KAIKAI & KIKI – FIGURES
Two small rabbit-like characters are shown in contrasting white and pink versions, each paired in the supplied image with illustrated packaging. Their long ears, wide smiles and brightly coloured facial details place them within Murakami’s playful character universe, where cute forms coexist with carefully controlled commercial production. The paired presentation emphasises variation through colour while preserving a common silhouette and expression. As sculptural multiples, the figures reflect Murakami’s broader Superflat strategy of moving imagery fluidly between painting, sculpture, merchandise and editioned objects, challenging conventional boundaries between gallery art and popular consumer culture.
