About the Work

JOAN CORNELLÀ — SELFIE GUN

The supplied image presents the SELFIE GUN figure and its illustrated packaging against a saturated blue ground. Cornellà’s suited character extends a selfie stick while another figure lies behind him, condensing the artist’s dark humour into an absurdly polished scene. Smooth vinyl-like surfaces and cheerful colour contrast sharply with the implied violence and indifference of the narrative. That collision between clean commercial aesthetics and uncomfortable behaviour is central to Cornellà’s work. As a collectible multiple, the piece turns a single-panel cartoon logic into three dimensions, preserving the deadpan expression and deliberately simplified forms of his drawings.
