About the Work
ZHANG DAQIAN — MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE WITH CLOUDS AND DISTANT PEAKS
The sheet reproduces the subject of Zhang Daqian’s *Mountain Landscape with Clouds and Distant Peaks* in a format intended for decorative display. Layered peaks, trees and waterways are organised through alternating dense ink-like passages and pale atmospheric areas, creating depth without relying on conventional Western perspective. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The image reflects the East Asian ink tradition’s emphasis on expressive line, spatial breathing room and the suggestive power of abbreviated forms.
