About the Work
ITŌ JAKUCHŪ — BIRDS AND BLOSSOMING PLUM
Presented as a later facsimile after Itō Jakuchū, *Birds and Blossoming Plum* retains the visual structure of the recognised composition. Blossoming branches structure the composition, their pale flowers punctuating darker trunks and surrounding architecture with a strong seasonal emphasis. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The composition demonstrates the enduring visual appeal of Japanese print design, where atmosphere, pattern and concise storytelling operate together.
