About the Work
JAMES JEAN — WOODCUTTER
The sculpture depicts a dark, stylised young woodcutter leaning forward beneath a bundle of cut logs. James Jean’s elongated proportions and gently surreal modelling give the figure a storybook quality, while the monochrome black finish shifts attention toward silhouette, gesture and surface detail. The stacked timber creates a strong horizontal counterweight to the bowed body, reinforcing the sense of burden and movement. Presented on a circular base, the work occupies a space between narrative sculpture, character design and collectible art, translating Jean’s intricate figurative imagination into a compact three-dimensional edition.
