About the Work
OHARA KOSON — TWO GEESE IN FLIGHT BEFORE THE MOON
Based on the composition associated with Ohara Koson, *Two Geese in Flight before the Moon* is presented here as a later printed edition. Two geese cross the open sky in a compact diagonal arrangement, their wings articulated against a pale field and a subdued lunar atmosphere. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The image reflects the Japanese print tradition’s ability to combine narrative clarity with disciplined pattern, contour and negative space.
