About the Work
BUFF MONSTER — MISTER MELTY
Mister Melty appears as a one-eyed figure whose head and upper body seem to soften and drip like melting ice cream. Pastel orange, pink, mint and cream tones intensify the confectionery association, while the illustrated box repeats the character in graphic form. Buff Monster’s practice frequently combines monsters, sweets and bright pop colour, and this vinyl multiple condenses those elements into a compact collectible. The single enlarged eye provides a strong focal point, balanced by the deliberately unstable melting contours. The work operates between character design and sculpture, using humour and surface colour to transform a simple toy format into a recognisable artist object.
