About the Work
KOZIK — SMORKIN LABBIT
A glossy red Labbit figure stands on four short legs with long upright ears and a cigarette projecting from its mouth. Black facial accents and small green dots interrupt the otherwise uniform red body. Kozik’s Labbit is one of the defining character forms of early designer-toy culture, combining a deliberately cute rabbit silhouette with adult or countercultural attributes. The cigarette is crucial to the work’s tone, introducing irony into an otherwise childlike object. Its simplified geometry and strong colour make the figure instantly legible, while the subversive accessory reflects the irreverent graphic language associated with Kozik’s wider practice.
