About the Work
LIU WEI — PURPLE AIR – PRINT
The image is organised through vertical bands, narrow stripes and layered blocks of colour in pink, orange, blue, black and pale neutral tones. Some lines appear interrupted or displaced, creating a sense of architectural fragmentation rather than a seamless pattern. A large dark geometric area near the right introduces additional weight and prevents the composition from reading simply as decorative abstraction. The work reflects an urban visual language built from accumulation, compression and shifting spatial layers. Its colour relationships are energetic, yet the underlying grid maintains order, producing tension between spontaneous surface activity and structural control.
