About the Work
KAWASE HASUI — AUTUMN AT SARUIWA
Based on the composition associated with Kawase Hasui, *Autumn at Saruiwa* is presented here as a later printed edition. The composition is organised around a clear central motif, balancing expressive line, open paper and carefully placed areas of colour to create a strong decorative presence. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The image reflects the Japanese print tradition’s ability to combine narrative clarity with disciplined pattern, contour and negative space.
