About the Work
YAYOI KUSAMA — FLOWERS – PRINT
A group of highly coloured flowers rises against a dark ground covered with Kusama’s repeating net-like pattern. Pink, red, yellow and green blossoms are outlined with strong graphic clarity, while the web of blue lines behind them creates a dense counter-rhythm. The composition combines two persistent strands of Kusama’s practice: botanical imagery and obsessive all-over repetition. Rather than offering conventional spatial depth, the image flattens flowers and background into competing decorative systems. The contrast between cheerful colour and relentless pattern gives the work an energetic visual tension, allowing familiar natural forms to become part of the artist’s psychologically charged ornamental language.
