About the Work
TSUKIOKA YOSHITOSHI — MOON ABOVE THE SEA AT DAIMOTSU BAY
This later decorative edition revisits Tsukioka Yoshitoshi’s *Moon above the Sea at Daimotsu Bay*. Water becomes the principal graphic force, articulated through curling crests and rhythmic bands that contrast with the distant stability of Mount Fuji and the shoreline. The supplied photograph shows the image clearly and supports the identification of the principal subject and orientation. Rather than treating the sheet as a period impression or unique work, the catalogue presents it conservatively as a later decorative reproduction, keeping the visual description separate from questions of authorship, date and edition. The composition demonstrates the enduring visual appeal of Japanese print design, where atmosphere, pattern and concise storytelling operate together.
